Cheers to Another 30 Years – 2024 Spare The Air Season in Review
On October 31, the 30th annual Spare The Air season will come to an end. The Sacramento region’s program began three decades ago through the combined efforts from the Sac Metro Air District, Placer County Air Quality Control District, El Dorado County Air Quality Management District, Yolo Solano Air Quality Management and Feather River Air Quality Management District. The program informs residents in the larger Sacramento region about the health and environmental impacts of air pollution, and how everyone can help improve air quality.
Here’s what we’ve been up to this season:
We distributed six newsletters this season to keep our 3,440 partners informed about The Spare The Air program, and how people can help, including:
- The 30th Annual Spare The Air Season Starts Today
- How to Spare The Summertime Air
- Summertime Air Pollution Doesn’t Take a Vacation
- ‘Bark’ to School – Scooter’s Tips for Kids
- Breathe Easy – The Many Benefits of Spare The Air
- Spare The Air and Take the Clean Air Day Pledge
Our Spare The Air mascot, Scooter, and his crew attended 28 events, including:
- 15 in Sacramento County
- 6 in Placer County
- 4 in Yolo-Solano Counties
- 3 in El Dorado County
We would like to thank you for your commitment to being a 2024 Spare The Air partner. Your continued dedication to help spread the message about the importance of air quality is invaluable. We look forward to partnering with you again next season, which begins on May 1, 2025.
