Save Time and Money While You Help Spare The Air

As summer vacation comes to an end and the school season approaches, we wanted to share some important tips on how to save time and money while contributing to a healthier environment.

Each year, the Spare The Air campaign runs from May through October, and helps improve air quality in our communities. Those living and working in Sacramento, Placer, El Dorado, Yolo, and Solano counties are encouraged to take part in reducing gas emissions, a significant contributor to ground-level ozone (smog).

Thanks to the efforts of residents and businesses, our air quality has improved over the years. It shows that small, individual actions can lead to a big difference in our air quality.

Save Money and Time with These Simple Actions:

  1. Pack a Lunch – Bringing lunch from home to work or school can help save you time and money! By planning ahead and packing meals, you can avoid unnecessary pick up or delivery trips during the day, which helps reduce unnecessary gas emissions.
  2. Group Errands – Plan your errands efficiently. By consolidating your errands into a single trip, you can save on fuel expenses and minimize the chance of forgetting something, saving time and money.
  3. Take Public Transit – With rising fuel costs, now is a great time to check out your local transit options! In addition to saving time and money, you’ll avoid the stress of morning traffic.
  4. Walk, Bike, or Roll Ditch the vehicle and use alternative transportation such as walk, bike, or roll to work or school! These are effective ways to cut down on gas emissions, plus, they are great ways to stay active and enjoy the outdoors. Remember to follow all traffic laws and always wear your helmet when biking or using a scooter.
  5. Go Electric – Electric vehicles produce far fewer emissions than their gas-powered counterparts. Hybrid vehicles can reduce how frequently you need to refill your tank and 100 percent electric vehicles allow you to avoid the pump entirely!

We hope these ideas get you started on how to help Spare The Air while saving time and money. These small actions can make a significant impact, showing how collective efforts can lead to better air quality for everyone. Remember, each action counts—small habits can lead to long-lasting improvements in our environment.

Thank you for your continued support to help our community breathe easier!
